A current CBT certificate is required by holders of provisional driving licences in order to ride a moped or learner motorcycle.
Full car licence holders need a CBT to ride learner motorcycles but may ride a moped without a CBT if the licence was gained before Feb 1st 2001, although training is advised.
Those passing the car test after this date need to complete a CBT course before riding a moped or motorcycle. A CBT only ever allows the holder to ride a motorcycle of up to 125cc.
A CBT is also required before taking a full licence test.
The CBT course fee is £110.00, including bike hire, and is guaranteed to get you the required certificate.
CBT candidates must bring their driving licence and proof of insurance if using own vehicle. Suitable covering must be worn, with the minimum being Jeans and some sort of ankle protection i.e. boots.
When the CBT certificate has been obtained your instructor will already have assessed your ability and will be able to recommend how much further training you will need in order to obtain a full licence.
